Welcome to this week's edition of I-Marketer. We are glad
you've stopped by!
This week we continue our with the third installment of our ten week TRAFFIC BUILDER series. If you have ever wondered how to create a growing stream of traffic to your site, this issue is for you.
We are also going to look at a mom who makes $20K in sales working 10 hours per week while she plays at home with her kids!
This week I am also giving you the INSIDE SCOOP on eZine advertising. If you've ever wondered if it works, I give you the real scoop.
NOW FOR SOME ENCOURAGEMENT....
I gave up this week.
I don't mean that I sold my business, got a job at the local
9 to 5 and started wearing a tie every day. What I mean is
that I saw that something I was doing wasn't working, so I
quit.
Knowing when to give up is important. If you don't know
when to give up, you won't know when you SHOULDN'T give up--
and that's something we ALL need to know. Here are some
pointers about when--and when not to--give up.
1. Give up when something isn't a good fit for you--even if
it fits other people just fine.
My son Kyle is a runner--sleek, fast with great endurance.
I am a weightlifter--big, slow (and some might say dumb.)
A year or so ago, Kyle got me talked in to daily runs with
him. He promised to go easy on me, to not run too far or
too fast. He loved it. I hated every step. There are
other ways for me to stay cardio-fit, so I began using those
instead. Now we have an agreement--I don't run and he
doesn't lift heavy metal objects.
2. Give up when NO ONE can make it succeed.
If 90% of people are failing with the latest "opportunity",
you probably will too. While there is the rare exception,
make sure that others are succeeding with reasonable effort
before you buy into the hype.
3. Give up when THE PERSONAL COST is higher than the
return.
While making Titanic, James Cameron lost his marriage. Don't
give up what is permanent--family, friends, health--for
something temporary like money.
Now, lets look at a few times when we should NOT give up:
1. DON'T give up just because something doesn't work at
first.
I regularly have people who say, "But I've had 100 people to
my web site and I haven't made a sale." Web business, like
everything else, requires perseverance. You may get 1,000
visits before you first sale, as you learn, but that's how we
ALL start out.
2. DON'T give up because you run out of money.
OK, this is a tough one. Most of the people I know--
including some BIG NAMES--didn't find success until they
were almost bankrupt. That's not a requirement, by the way,
but it is a fact for many. When you start out with a big
bankroll and "perfect" plans, everything seems easy and the
mistakes don't seem as significant. Once you spend all your
money, you see things in a different light.
3. DON'T give up because you are discouraged.
This is the hardest one of all. I think discouragement is
the number one source of failure in business. We give up
because we lack the emotional courage to go on.
Take a break, seek some support from others, re-think your
goals and plans--whatever it takes to go one more day. Most
fail to understand that discouragement doesn't happen to a
few of us, it happens to ALL of us at one time or another.
Don't give up and you will eventually succeed.
So today, if you feel like giving up on EVERYTHING, don't.
But you might want to re-think your current strategy for
success. In the long run, everyone who refuses to give up
will succeed.
Here's wishing you SPEEDY success,
Kevin
