OK, you’ve decided it’s time to start your own online business. You’re sick of the job, the boss, the hours. You are ready to live life on your own terms, spend your time as you please, have the money to enjoy life.

Good for you, just that decision puts you far ahead of 95% of the population.

But where do you go from here? After helping hundreds of people, I can break this down into simple steps:

1. Choose a market niche.

Many people consider this a daunting task, but new tools make it much easier. You can see what people are searching for online, evaluate the competition, find underserved and penetratable markets. Here are some of the tools I use:

2. Decide on a monetization strategy.

"Monetization" simply means how you are going to make money from your niche. You can sell a product or have a store. You can offer drop-shipped products. You can sell other’s products as an affiliate.

Each of these has merit. Here are some guides and helps you can check out to help you decide:

3. Build Your Site

Once you have decided WHAT you want to accomplish, you need to have a site. You can do it yourself or have it built for you.

A great way for a beginner to put together a site is to use one of the tools outlined on this page:

4. Market Your Site

Now that your site is up, you need to let the world know about it. You can do this through "direct marketing"-telling people to come to you through advertisements, or through "indirect marketing"-using search engines to let people know about you.

I recommend both.
